The Skegness Trading Hub, formerly known as Skegness Market, is a revitalized indoor marketplace located on Briar Way in Skegness, Lincolnshire. Originally established in the 1960s by local figure Fred Nicholls, the market has undergone significant transformations over the decades. In 2003, PLR Leisure acquired the property and transitioned it from an open-air market to an indoor facility by adding a roof. Further investments in 2023 included new facias and security shutters, leading to its rebranding as the Skegness Trading Hub.
Today, the Trading Hub hosts a diverse array of independent businesses and stalls, offering products and services ranging from crafts and gifts to sweets and collectibles. Notable vendors include Real Deal Games, CK Crafts and Gifts, CPS Sweets, The Computer Shop, and Skeggy's Sweet Occasions, among others.
The Hub is open seven days a week, with operating hours from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday, and 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sundays.
Community engagement is a cornerstone of the Trading Hub's operations. Events such as the grand opening of Skeggy's Sweet Occasions have featured live music, character mascots, and competitions, aiming to foster a vibrant atmosphere and encourage local patronage.
While the Trading Hub has faced challenges, including fluctuating occupancy rates and changing consumer habits, ongoing efforts by traders and management aim to reinvigorate the space and adapt to contemporary retail trends. Initiatives include promoting the market through social media and community events to attract both locals and visitors.
