Markby is unique. It is the only thatched church in Lincolnshire. and one of the rare few left in England. hTe interior of the church still bears traces of its history, in particular in the Norman dog toothed decoration on the chancel arch and the former oak cross beam rescued from the roof which bears a date of 1611. The ancient font, a delightful 13th century rose sculpture and 19th century box pews, which probably belonged to a former church compliment the furnishings of this delightful and most rural of churches.
