Who we are

The Visit The Seaside app (“the app”) is published by Visit the Seaside (“we”, “us”, “our”). The app is a guide to events, vouchers and local businesses across the Lincolnshire coast and is available on iOS and Android. The publisher of record is Visit the Seaside, contact info@visittheseaside.com.

Information we collect

We collect the minimum data needed for the app to work.

• Account data — if you create a customer or business account, we store your email, hashed password, display name and role.
• Anonymous device ID — a random UUID kept in your device’s secure storage so we can prevent the same voucher being redeemed twice on the same device. Never linked to your name.
• Push token — if you opt in to nearby alerts we store the Expo push token plus your last known coarse location.
• Location — used only for distance sorting and nearby push relevance. No location history is kept.
• Voucher redemptions — voucher ID, anonymous device ID, business ID and timestamp.
• Saved items & trip plans — stored locally on your device only.
• Diagnostic data — standard server logs kept up to 30 days.

What we do NOT collect

We do not collect contacts, photo library, microphone audio, browsing history, advertising IDs, precise location history or payment cards. We run no third-party ad SDKs and we never sell data.

How we use the information

To operate the app, prevent abuse, respond to your support requests, and comply with legal obligations.

Camera

The camera is requested only when staff scan a customer voucher QR. Frames are processed on-device and immediately discarded. No photos or video are taken or transmitted.

Push notifications

Sent via Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). You can disable them at any time from your device settings or from the app’s Profile screen.

Third-party services

• Apple / Google — push delivery and app distribution.
• Open-Meteo — anonymous weather lookups.
• OpenStreetMap — anonymous map tile rendering.
• visittheseaside.com — the public source for event and voucher data.

None of these third parties receive any data that identifies you personally.

Data retention

We keep your account and push token for as long as you use the app. Delete your account and we erase your data within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal reasons.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, erase, export, restrict or object to processing of your data. Email info@visittheseaside.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

The app is rated 4+ but is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app and the Effective date above will be updated.
