A Safe Haven for Goats and Other Farm Livestock
Our Mission: We are dedicated to providing a peaceful and comfortable home for goats in need, ensuring they receive the care and understanding they deserve. Our sanctuary offers a loving environment for goats that can no longer be cared for by their previous owners, and we are committed to their welfare for as long as needed.
Visitor Information: While we are not open to the public on a daily basis due to our small team and the extensive care required for our goats, we do host special Open Days during the summer months. These events allow visitors to explore the farm free of charge, including access to the entire property, a lovely picnic meadow, and the scenic Sutton Branchline Footpath. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads.
Support and Fundraising: During Open Days, visitors can interact with the goats using treat bags available for purchase. We also encourage support through our Tombola and merchandise sales. Collection boxes are available for donations, with all proceeds directly benefiting the animals. As a charity, 100% of donations go towards the care of the goats, with no team members receiving payment or expenses.
Foster a Goat: Goats are social and affectionate animals that thrive on attention and companionship. If you're interested in fostering, we provide support throughout the process, including a checklist and preparation visit. Foster homes should have secure fencing, appropriate shelter, and the means to cover routine health care and dietary needs. We recommend attending a free goat care training course and obtaining third-party insurance coverage.
Other Rescue Animals: In addition to goats, our farm is home to sheep, ponies, hens, and ducks. Fresh eggs from our rescue hens are available for sale daily.
Educational and Therapy Visits: We offer farm visits for schools and groups as part of our creative learning program, providing interactive and engaging experiences. We also facilitate therapy visits to care homes and groups, bringing comfort and joy through animal interaction. This aligns with green social prescribing practices aimed at improving mental and physical health.
Schedule a Tour: Details for scheduling a tour will be available soon. We welcome clubs, groups, and organizations looking for a unique day out.
Support Us: Hensell Goat Rescue relies on goat adoptions, donations, and gifts to support our feed and care fund. Visit our JustGiving page to contribute, knowing that every penny goes directly to the welfare of the animals.
